Vid – Garett Buehler

Fall riding on the North Shore is about as Core as it gets, its wet, dark, gnar, and it only gets worse throughout the winter. However these conditions are all time for shooting, the colors are rich and deep and everything glistens with that classic North Shore shine. That’s why I was stoked when I got a call from Margus Riga asking to come shoot Nelsons’ big mountain shredder – Garret Buehler on my home turf.

Garret is pure talent on a bike and is one of the most fun riders to watch.

Reviewing the Shot with Margus Riga and Connor Macleod

Our original plan was to shoot an edit on Disneyland – an epic in Britannia. Most riders organize a heli-drop from Squamish; however, we had camera bags and thought we could push up from the bottom like real men. We thought it would be about 4-6 hours to push up with an epic downhill waiting for us at the top. Turned out to be very unclear what trail to follow, after 4 hours we plateaued with no sign of the top. Our only choice was to go back down, minutes later we dropped thousands of feet and were very close to where we started our push. We called it a wash and headed home.

Classic Shore style

Over the next few days we hit a handful of classic shore moves and trail, including the Toonie Drop and Brutis. We didn’t really have a plan for the edit; I just wanted to show Garret some cool hits seeing that it were his first real visit to the Shore. Shooting with Garret was awesome; he is pure talent on a bike and fun to be around. We hope to bring you more edits in the future.

Getting loose on Cypress downhill laps.

“Hanging out in North Van was cool… I hadn’t ridden the shore much prior to this; only twice passing threw on the way to Whistler. But this fall I had time to spend 2 weeks in Vancouver hanging out and riding the classic lines. I defiantly grew a new respect for the riders, and trail builders out there… The Shore defines Gnar! During my visit I teamed up with Connor Macleod, and Margus Riga as well as Derek Dix and Brad Holmes… the guys showed me around to some of the old senders, and Conner threw this edit together in a few days. Thanks guys!”

The toonie drop never fails to impress. And terrify. What did you think?
