KHMR Sun Splash Funk Fest

March 23rd, 2010 Golden, B.C…. The end to the winter riding season is near and to finish it off in style by getting riders geared up for the next riding season, the Kicking Horse Mountain Resort Bike Park and S.E. Racing are pleased to welcome back the annual Melt Freeze Cup.  The race is a Downhill Mountain Bike Race on snow, Saturday April 10th, 2010. The race is just one of the many great events happening during the Sun Splash Funk Fest weekend.

“The Melt Freeze Cup is the ultimate way to get mountain bikers geared up for the upcoming lift access riding season,” President and General Manager of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, Steve Paccagnan. “This snow-based event is a spring time classic and the perfect prelude for the Western Open Downhill happening on August 28th and 29th, 2010.”

 
The Melt Freeze Cup is a downhill mountain bike race on snow, from Catamount mid-station to the plaza. Riders will test their abilities and show superb bike handling techniques down this winding course.
 
Race registration is now open at Kicking Horse Guest Services and available online at kickinghorseresort.com and http://www.karelo.com/register.php?BID=408&BT=10&PrivEv=8948 . (pre-registration is strongly recommended)  Last minute registration is open from 8am to 10am on race day at Guest Services.

 
Training will take place from 10am to 11am with the main even t from 11:30am until 1pm.
 
Race entry is $20 and includes lift access up the Catamount Chair. Spectators can view the race for free from the plaza. The awards ceremony will follow the race and is set to begin in the plaza at 1:30pm.
 
While taking in the bike racing action, spectators are encouraged to participate in other Sun Splash events including: 80’s Day on the Slopes – sport your best retro gear, the Dummy Downhill, Modified GT Snow Racing, Slush Cup, and the Big Rock Brewery Untapped Connection featuring live musicians, DJs, and Plaza Patio open from 11am to 6pm.
