Olympic City

With the Olympics in town and a buddy crashing on my couch, I decided to take so time off from operating Green Coast Rubbish, and take in some of the sights and sounds of our Olympic city.
My friend was eager to see the city, so what better way than on cruiser bikes?  I have to admit that it was kind of fun being a tourist in my own town. There is no doubt that with the injection of some 250,000 tourists into the city it was alive and vibrant- for a change. Here are some shots from our little sightseeing missions…

The Kruzenstern

The Russian bark “Kruzenstern”, one of the oldest sailing ships in the world was visiting Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Olympic Crowds

The crowds. Needless to say we had to walk our cruisers through this madness.  Seventeen straight days of this…good times.

Jump'n

No this was not a Mentos commercial, just my friend feeling inspired.  Taken at Third Beach.

Vancouver

A fine view of the Art Deco inspired Burrard Street Bridge spaning over False Creek.

Vancouver

The iconic Loins Gate Bridge taken from the Vancouver seawall.

ZIP IT

For the Olympics Vancouver had its own urban zip-line. Such a great idea, too bad about the 4-6 hour waits though.

Night Life

Vancouver’s night life went off during the Olympics. It was a nice to see for a change!

The Game

Ok, it wasn’t the gold medal game, but I’ll take box seats to a USA vs Norway game any day. Did I mention box seats?

That’s it.  A little window into some of the sight’s from our Olympic city.
