The Last Hurrah

The last weekend in 2009 went out with a bang.  Very little snow, dry weather and warm temperatures make for a great winter in my books.  I had Friday, Sat, Sun and Monday off work for the Xmas holidays with no travelling or family plans…  It was time to play.

Friday:

I got the little bike out and did a tour of Bridal Path to get the cobwebs out of the legs and lungs after 6 weeks of being idle.  I’ve been hitting the gym but it didn’t seem to make a difference with the cardio.

Saturday:

I did a quick lap of Bridal Path/Empress with the wife and then hooked up with part of the crew for more serious business:

To the top of the of the unknown, the snowline was nice and high.  The snow pack was also easy to ride on.

Not much further down the trail, it was clear of snow and almost bone dry !

I was having too much fun to take any more photos with the P&S.  We were all exhausted from a super long descent to basically sea level and back up to home.

Sunday:

Snowshoe excursion on Seymour Mtn.  to Brockton Point.  Not much of a hike but still nice to get the legs going.

can’t go wrong a snap of a sunset

Snowshoeing is fun and I do it a few times a year to get some exercise and fresh air.

Monday:

Same route as Saturday and we shuttled a Severed Dick.

Great weekend and a great 2009 !  North Van rules.

Cheers,

JW
