6 Photographers / 3 Days in the Whistler Bike Park / 1 Slide Show Event

Kokanee Crankworx 2009 is pleased to announce a new event that will truly capture the soul of freeride mountain biking in the mountains of Whistler. An amazing roster of five renowned invited photographers and an illustrious judging panel is the basis for yet another NEW event for ’09.  Each of the invited professional photographers will team up with athletes of their choice to be unleashed on Whistler’s Bike Park for three days to capture the on mountain action in the prime of summer.  They’ll have three days to shoot, edit and compile a slide show to impress the judges…and all of us when we gather for the big night finale.  The pressure and prestige is on with $6,000 total prize money and a huge boost to a career on the line.
NSMB, Saint and Kokanee Crankworx will be granting one Wildcard photographer the opportunity to compete against some of the world’s best and most respected mountain bike photographers.
Are you Saint’s Wildcard Photographer?

Submit three photos to [email protected] by July 31, 2009. They will be judged by the following criteria.

1. Technical / Composition
Exposure, focus, use of colour and light, compositions.

2. Originality/Creativity
The soul of the photographs.  In addition to the original subject matter, it can include new ways of approaching the subjects, such as original / unique vantage points or perspectives or creative uses of the camera to capture distinctive images that provide a fresh look at the Deep Summer theme.

RULES & REGULATIONS
• Six professional mountain bike photographers invited
• Each Photographer will have three (3) days to shoot starting on the morning of Friday August 7 and ending on Sunday, August 9. On Monday, August 10, photographers will edit and hand in the slideshow by 6pm.
• All photos must be taken within the Whistler zone of Function Junction to Emerald and 60 per cent of the images must be taken in the official Whistler’s Mountain Bike riding zones or in the Crankworx Expo/Tech/Demo area
• Each Photographer will create a 3-5 minute slideshow set to music that will be shown and judged on Wednesday August 12
• Photographers must submit slide show on Monday, August 10 at 6pm for technical rehearsals.  Content of show with 60 per cent within Whistler Mountain Bike Park will also be verified by Bike Park staff.
• The Photographers will be judged based on the following criteria:
o Technical / Composition
o Originality / Creativity
o Theme
o Overall

Tickets:  $15 – Advance sales at Whistler Blackcomb Guest Relations or by calling 1.866.218.9690. Tickets will not be available at the door.

Prizes:  1st – $3,000 / 2nd – $2,000 / 3rd – $1,000
