2009 North Shore BikeFest

2009 will be a memorable year for racing on the North Shore for 2009.  With the advent of the North Shore Bike Fest (www.northshorebikefest.com), XC and DH racing has been resurrected to a level not seen in years, if ever.  With the DH portion slated to down Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, I decided to enter even though I’m not much of a racer but I have ridden that trail on and off for 15 years and seen many changes to it.

Here’s a little vid of me hitting a drop/gap on Ned’s that actually got taken out for the race:

I was pretty nervous before the race but it went fairly well overall.  I placed 2nd in my category which was good but my time was quite slow.

I’ll blame it on staying late at the McRaes.

Stuart managed to get a snap of me going around the closed off A-Frame during my race run.

Thanks to Dave Mackie for the above photo.

The officials were very professional and it was organized super well.  Racers had their times right after the last person in the category.  After the race I headed home and then to InterRiver Park to have a couple of refreshments. Here are a few snaps of the festivities:

Thanks Dan for making the events happen !
