$2500 Donated to Stevie Smith Fund

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this by purchasing sticker packs.

Like many of you we felt crushed and helpless after Stevie’s death. He was such an incredible rider and a stellar ambassador for Canada and for the sport we all love. He was an inspiration to us on and off the bike and we wanted to do something to commemorate his life – and to help promote his legacy. That’s how our little fundraiser began.

Everyone who has purchased #longlivechainsaw and Stevie Smith decals has helped us make our first donation to the Stevie Smith Legacy Fund. We were a conduit for artwork done by 10-year old Maelle Parsons whose father, Wayne, wanted to commemorate Stevie with a t-shirt.

I saw the hashtag somewhere on Instagram, so at first I was just going to write it on the shirt in permanent marker and be done with it. Then I thought it needed a cartoon chainsaw as well, so I called Maelle over to draw a chainsaw. I didn’t know Steve personally but I suppose we all felt we knew him to a certain point. I wanted the shirt to look kinda janky and a little ghetto, and to me that seems like something Steve would have liked. It seemed like a small but fitting gesture to pay tribute to the greatest Canadian downhiller of all time.

Thanks to everyone who has helped us support the fund and to everyone who will in the future. We have already sold more sticker packs since we made the donation and we will keep selling them for as long as we can.
